What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis has been in existence since the times of Ancient Egypt.  It has been evolving as a therapeutic tool since the late 19th Century and is a widely accepted method for the treatment of many conditions including smoking cessation, pain relief and appetite control.  Though its definition is in a constant state of evolution, the current working definition is this:

Hypnosis is a particular altered state of selective hyper-suggestibility brought about in an individual by the use of a combination of relaxation, fixation of attention and suggestion.[1]

Say what?  Through the use of hypnotic induction the individual becomes very relaxed and willing to listen to positive suggestions made by the hypnotherapist.  When you are under hypnosis you are not asleep.  Although you are very relaxed, you are fully aware of yourself and your surroundings.  You are in control.  You will not do anything that is outside of your personal moral or ethical structures.

To improve the results of your wellness program, hypnosis may be used to remove self-defeating attitudes, modify unhealthy behaviors, reinforce new habits and thought processes, and more.

At Mountain Fitness Center we use hypnotic suggestions to support you in your quest for improved health and fitness.
